Tewelde Medhin is a budding photographer with Trinidadian roots residing in New Jersey. He moved to the US four years ago and has achieved much since then. His interest in photography was exhibited long ago when portable 35mm film cameras existed and everyone had one in their homes. Tewelde was always aware of where the lighting was best for pictures and would always re position his friends.
It was not until his first DSLR many moons later that he was able to expand on that love. He has refined his skills as a self taught photographer and is ready to have his name known in the fashion industry. Tewelde is not limited in any way to fashion photography but loves doing portraiture, events and his first love of scenic photography.
Currently he is the main photographer for Sofistafunk The Skirt Co. a relationship that began in the later half of 2016. This partnership has allowed him the opportunity to shoot wit Bravo Tv reality star Brooklyn Tankard in the streets of New York. This partnership is a strong one and has big plans for the future.
Medhin Photography was birthed from the desire to leave a lasting mark in the fashion industry. Under this brand Medhin Photography Tewelde has covered events for Samantha Samuel of FashionSixty4's Black Tie For a Cause for the Boys and Girls Club of Hudson County fashion show. We were invited to shoot for Fashion In The Fast Lane runway competition The Ultimate Walk Off. Jersey City Fashion Week the brain child of Desha Jackson was also another popular New Jersey fashion event covered by Medhin Photography. Famous New Jersey fashion designer Tyrone Chablis allowed us to be the main photographer for his 2014 Wonder fashion show held in October. Most recently New York Fashion Week event Small Boutique Fashion Week was covered and many new connections made.
One of his ground breaking achievements is starting his Medhin Model Ambassador project, which gives models intended on starting or redoing their portfolio the opportunity of working with him for a 12 month period to develop their brand. Another way he gives back to the community is via his time to the students of Newark Tech in Newark New Jersey. He has shot for their fashion shows and speaks with the fashion club from time to time.
Look out because he may be taking photos of you next.
